Problems:
Solutions:
1. PetroAnalyst establishes a "customizable" process that allows you to apply the same principles in evaluating the geologic probability of success for all of the opportunities in your portfolio.
2. PetroAnalyst takes your existing risk results (Pg) and performs a "Spatial Reality Check" on each opportunity using ArcGIS. PetroAnalyst provides maps of the probability of geologic success (Pg) using the same elements for the evaluation as the most popular spreadsheet-based prospect evaluation tools.
3. PetroAnalyst has workflows for both conventional and resource plays. Each can be customized to fit your company's needs. The resource play workflow focuses on source rock geochemistry and leverages the BasinMod technology. PetroAnalyst helps you to evaluate what is most important in a source rock, taking into account not only results from geochemical modelling, but also providing a way for you to estimate data confidence based on the quality and quantity of your data.
4. PetroAnalyst provides a workflow and tools that allow you to calculate map-based Pg for a resource play. If you have ArcMap and outlines of the areas you are interested in, then PetroAnalyst will report the Pg in those areas allowing you to perform an objective comparison.
Problem: How can I get a basin-wide overview of all my data? How can I see calculated surfaces in map view?
Solution: BasinView Mapping and Integration displays calculated output in map view. Integrate any number of BasinMod 1-D models, formation top or thickness grids, ASCII xyz data, and cultural data such as coastlines and lease boundaries.Problem: When was my source rock mature enough to generate hydrocarbons and when were these hydrocarbons expelled?
Solution: BasinMod 1-D calculates burial history, maturity, and timing of hydrocarbon generation and expulsion. Select from several different methods for the calculation of maturity as well as porosity reduction and permeability reduction. Take into account porosity reduction as a result of quartz cementation, calcite cementation, and smectite-illite. Model unconformities and faults.Problem: How can I quickly calibrate multiple wells so that calculated maturity, porosity, and temperature match my measured data?
Solution: Calibrator accepts a range of values for modelling parameters and runs thousands of simulations to create BasinMod 1-D .mod files containing optimized parameters to quickly calibrate to maturity, porosity, temperature, pressure, and permeability.Problem: How can I see my traps and determine how much hydrocarbon is contained in these traps?
Solution: BasinFlow combines source bed and carrier bed data with hydrodynamics to model hydrocarbon migration and entrapment at the prospect or basin scale. Trap location, trap properties, and migration pathways are calculated and displayed in map view.Problem: How can I rank my prospects?
Solution: BasinMod Risk is specifically designed to address exploration risk in the context of a petroleum system and helps determine the probability of a successful exploration effort. Assign uncertainty using one of several probaiblity distributions to charge parameters (such as kerogen type, TOC, and source area) and trap parameters (such as reservoir porosity, formation volume factor, and seal efficiency), and use either the Monte Carlo or the Latin Hypercube sampling method to run thousands of model simulations.Problem: How can I model salt?
Solution: BasinMod 2-D features the ability to model changes in salt geometry through time as well as true 2-D pressure, time-transgressive events, and complicated unconformities. Import data including BasinMod 1-D .mod files, digitized or scanned cross sections, Landmark or GeoQuest project files. Model facies changes with gradual changes in rock property values.
