BasinMod 1-D

Product Overview

The primary function of BasinMod 1-D is to construct a geological model of stratigraphy versus time (burial history) and a thermal history in order to evaluate hydrocarbon potential of a single location. In addition to prediction of hydrocarbon generation and expulsion, a wide range of other values are calculated, such as maturity, porosity, permeability, pressure and temperature that can be used in petroleum systems analysis.

BasinMod 1-D:

  • Calculates geohistory/burial history, thermal history, maturation, pressure, and timing of hydrocarbon generation and expulsion.
  • Used by more than 2,000 professionals worldwide.

Burial History:

  • Handles complex stratigraphy, including unconformities and faults.
  • Several calculation methods for compaction, porosity, permeability, and maturity.
  • Mix pure lithologies from the available lithology set to create new lithologies.
  • Delta Porosity models porosity enhancement or reduction, independent of compaction.
  • Delta Thickness models changes in formation thickness due to salt or shale movement (diapirs).
  • Display burial history plots with lithologies, isotherms, maturity windows or kinetics windows, subsidence curves, or with a model value displayed in continuous color.
pic1 (7K) Maturity displayed on burial history as continuous color.
pic2 (5K) Maturity vs. Depth plot with measured Maturity and Maturity Windows.
pic3 (5K) Cumulative HC vs. Time showing both in-situ and expelled amounts for oil and gas.
