Fission Track Analysis
AFTA® is a method of quantitative paleotemperature analysis used in sedimentary basins. This technique was developed over the past 15 years by Geotrack International. Collaboration between Platte River Associates and Geotrack has resulted in Platte River's Fission Track Analysis, which incorporates the AFTA technology, giving you superior software for constraining the thermal and tectonic event of a basin. AFTA provides direct estimates of the maximum temperature to which a sample has been subjected. Also provided is information about the timing of cooling from maximum temperature. Time and temperature information available from AFTA® is widely used in tectonic studies and maturation work.
